Embracing Amsterdam's Green Spaces

Start your Amsterdam adventure by escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and immersing yourself in the serene beauty of Noorderpark. Located just north of the city centre, this sprawling green space offers lush lawns, tranquil ponds, and scenic walking paths ideal for picnics or leisurely strolls. Nature enthusiasts will also appreciate a visit to Keukenhof Gardens, where millions of tulips burst into bloom each spring, painting the landscape with a kaleidoscope of colours.

Indulging in Culinary Delicacies

Next, dive into Amsterdam's vibrant culinary scene with a visit to the Albert Cuyp Market. This bustling market, located in the vibrant De Pijp neighbourhood, is a paradise for food lovers, offering everything from fresh produce and seafood to traditional Dutch treats like stroopwafels and herring sandwiches. Be sure to try some Bitterballen while you are there, and a little tip from me, if you love Asian dumplings like I do, if you come across a slightly makeshift stall with dumplings everywhere, be sure to try a selection - you will not be disappointed!

KAASBAR

Continue your culinary journey at KAASBAR, a cheese bar dedicated to showcasing the finest Dutch cheeses paired with exquisite wines. If you have ever been to Pick 'n' Cheese in London (Covent Garden), it is a similar vibe; however, the portions of cheese are about twice the price but also twice as big, and arguably of better quality.

You get to see the cheese before ordering, as it comes around on the conveyor belt. From creamy Gouda to tangy blue cheese, KAASBAR offers a sensory experience that celebrates the best of Dutch gastronomy.

They have a complex and varied selection of cheese that is so affordable. I found that due to the good-sized portions you get, 3-4 cheeses per person with some bread and cured meats on the side is a good amount.

FABRIQUE DES LUMIÈRES

What a steal this place is! We had no idea what to expect. Well, I did think it would be like an immersive museum - we went to learn about Ancient Egypt. But it ended up being just one room that you could stand, sit or walk around in, with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. But the defining feature is that everything, except the floors, is a screen. Or at least cool visuals are projected onto it.

They last 40 minutes, but you can stay an extra twenty minutes and watch 2 more shows! They are so cool and are made in time with music, so you get completely mesmerised and one could say, lost in the sauce. For only 12 euros, this was a bargain.
